Arm v8-R

Arm has relented on its opposition to custom instructions with the decision to let customers add them to V8-M processors.

ARM has launched the first of its Cortex-R series of processors to be based on the v8R architecture, providing greater protection for software tasks from each other.

ARM has launched the -R version of its v8 architecture, targeting applications in automotive and industrial systems and possibly spawning a new generation of Linux-oriented microcontollers.
