Cadence Design Systems has given its new release of OrCAD access to the cloud-based AI placement that was designed for its Allegro PCB-layout software.

The OrCAD X platform introduces a cloud-based design mode including interactive collaboration and online storage for design data on the company’s OnCloud platform as well as options for cloud-based licensing. Cadence said its new version, which continues OrCAD’s emphasis on small and medium businesses, offers a PCB canvas that is easier to learn and use. The new version is intended to deliver a broader set of electrical constraints and performance improvements, as well as integration with system design and analysis tools in the the company’s portfolio. The OrCAD X platform can access automated placement through the Allegro X AI system.

“Cadence is committed to delivering optimal system design solutions that incorporate the power of generative AI and the cloud to enable the fastest turnaround times,” said Michael Jackson, corporate vice president of R&D in the custom IC and PCB group at Cadence.
