The 53rd Design Automation Conference has published its program for the upcoming event in Austin, Texas, which will include keynotes from AMD, nVidia, and NXP Semiconductors and tracks that connect electronics to biology.

Monday’s (June 6) keynote features NXP’s automotive CTO Lars Reger, who will describe what it takes to enable securely connected self-driving cars in a talk that takes in ADAS, V2V communications, and the threat from hacking.

On Tuesday, Sameer Halepete, vice president of VLSI engineering at nVidia, will cover the state of visual and accelerated computing and the design approaches that the company is using to implement higher-performance GPUs in an environment where process scaling is not delivering the power, speed and cost advantages that it used to.

Wednesday’s keynote will feature AMD CTO Mark Papermaster talking about the environment and attributes organizations need to build successful products.

Several of the half-hour Skytalks will deal with the intersection between biological and electronic systems. Ricky Muller of the University of California at Berkeley and Cortera Neurotechnologies kicks off on Monday afternoon with a talk on minimally invasive neural interfaces.

Lou Scheffer from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute follows on Tuesday morning with a look at how biological systems can influence future electronic design to make systems more resilient.

The Thursday Skytalks wrap up the theme with a look at self-learning robot design from Peter Stone of the University of Austin at Texas and the approaches being taken not just to interface electronics to biological systems but to power them by Kenneth Shepard and colleagues at Columbia University.

As with previous years, the conference is offering free attendance to the exhibit floor and the keynotes through the I LOVE DAC program. Badge wearers can also attend the first three Skytalks, the Fireside CEO Chats, three Teardowns and the Austin Angle talks.

I LOVE DAC badge holders also will be able to attend the Silicon and Technology Art show starting on Monday, June 6th. In addition, the I LOVE DAC badge offers networking opportunities at the evening receptions from 6-7pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the Designer/IP Track Poster Sessions. I LOVE DAC registration is open now through May 18th and is sponsored by ATopTech, Cliosoft, and OneSpin Solutions.
